open new window/shell on demand?

Hi all,

I've been reading a few discussions on opening 2 shells on application startup.

I was wondering if it's possible to do this;

1) open 1 shell at start up

2) let the user open additional shells as needed (for now let's say 2 additional shells, for 3 in total)

3) close the application (and all 3 shells at once)

4) next time the app is run all 3 shells load up?

#2 is the big issue. Is it possible to run additional shells on demand?

thanks

Hi,

There is not guidance for achieving this in Prism out-of-the-box. But there should be no problems to create an application with multiple shells. In the Damian Schenkelman’s Blog there is a post about this for Prism v2, but should provide you guidance on it (this post also contains a sample application):

This topic has also been treated in the following thread posts:

You could find useful the following forum threads that are about popup windows:

  • RegionPopupBehaviors, it has references to the Reference Implementation which has a sample of this.

 Please let me know if this helps.
