Why is it called "Prism"?

Can anyone explain the origin of the name "Prism"?
Any links to where that is documented?

My own guess is as follows:
An optical prism can be used to break up light into its component colors.
Similarly, "Prism" can be used to help break up code into modules.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I find your interpretation interesting. As far as I know, this is the code name of the project and there is no official information how it has been assigned.

Hi Alex,

The Prism names comes (at least that was the first time I saw it) from this post by Glenn Block: "PRISM - something like PResentation Integration SysteM."

Hi Damian and Fernando,

Thanks for the explanation.  Your link to Glenn Block's 2008-01 blog post was the kind of thing I was looking for.

Thanks again,
Alex
