overlay window

Is there any guidance for creating an overlay window? Karl Shifflett posted code to create pop up dialogs based on interactionrequest - but i am looking for a solution to showing a rich window (for example, that displays a grid populatable from a remote data source and selecting rows from there should populate the original underlying control), which also can be directed to cover a specified area on the underlying control.

Based on my understanding the InteractionRequestTrigger will perform any specified action, once the request is raised. Therefore you could define your custom action to fullfill your personal preferences and requirements.

Prism from out of the box provides the implementation of InteractionRequestTrigger and PopupChildWindowAction classes, that can be used as a basis for the development of your own triggers and actions.
